Bigger isn’t always better but in this case we probably think it is. We took our time in moving to a bigger format press as we wanted to make sure it really was the right thing to do. Plus it was a very large investment to make, what with the current “financial armageddon” and all. Financial crisis or not our customers were continually prodding us for a larger format press and we had exhausted the capacity on our old press for some time, so once again we decided to “fly in the face” of what the so called pundits would lead us to believe. More than £300,000 lighter and with the help of an interest free loan from the Carbon Trust, we can now print sheets twice as big at nearly twice the speed making us more effective over a wider range of work. Our brand new press uses the most upto date technologies allowing us to “make ready” in just 6 minutes and only 30 sheets, a process that would take older more traditional printing presses nearly 40 minutes and 300 sheets! The levels of automation our press has still leaves us super effective at the short run fast turn around work we have built our reputation on whilst allowing us to take on bigger and longer run work we previously couldn’t.
